Seriously pathetic. Like transit makes up 25% of travel anywhere outside of New York City.

so much for infrastructure spending as stimulus... this is roughly the same amount of money as is spent in a normal year.

Why is 20% bad for PDX?

Thank you for acknowledging that 10% of the money should be spent on bicycling, and 5% on walking. And have you seen the carpool facilities in this city? Other than I-5N, and a couple parking spaces around town, they obviously haven't spent 5% of the money on that either...

FYI, according to the Census Bureau's 2007 American Community Survey, the Commuting-to-Work mode share for Transit in the New York-Northern New Jersey-Long Island, NY-NJ-PA Metropolitan Statistical Area (which includes a lot more area than just NYC) was 30.1%.

That is pathetic. So let's use the stimulus money to increase transit infrastructure and subsequently, transit utilization and get more cities up to New York-levels of ridership, starting with Portland.

$30 Billion sure doesn't seem like a lot.

But just wait till next year when all this money comes tumbling down. So be CAREFUL what you/we wish for. We might just get it.
