KBOO Bike Show: Amazing Cyclists!
Listen to the show (mp3, 27.3MB)
Oregon is an amazing place to ride a bike not just because of the work of local and state governments.
Ordinary citizens like you and me have worked tirelessly over the years in their own unique ways to improve the cycling landscape.
We learn more about these bike heroes and the upcoming Alice B. Toeclips awards ceremony that will honor their good work. When faced with adversity, why did they keep fighting? Where does the spirit come from? Why do they love bikes?

Wells Says:
I biked along the I-205 MAX Green Line to check progress Friday. It's been about a month since the last time. Not much new progress to report. The detours are still in place - between Division and 1 block past Powell. From there the bike path is open to Harold where the detour goes to 92nd through Foster business district to where I-205 crosses 92nd. There the detour goes first to 89th and then to Johnson Creek Blvd. That's as far as I got.
The Johnson Creek station is just a few blocks further south. The turnaround street and platform there is mostly done, but sidewalks are incomplete. The park-n-ride is being graded.
At Johnson Creek Blvd, Stacey and Witbeck have a construction staging area that may be evacuated and the path go through rather than hug 89th as it does for a few blocks north of Johnson Creek. The path is graded from this construction staging area to 92nd but fenced off like the other detours and still in gravel.
I noticed at Flavel, there's yet no bike path bridge over Johnson Creek. Will the Springwater Trail end up a detour to 92nd and return at Flavel or at I-205 further south?
